Wordpress plugin : Simple Captcha
Captcha is a type of challenge-response test to determine whether the user is human by generating and grading using images tests which is easy to human but difficult to machine so that humans can pass it , but machine cannot pass it. One of the purposes of captcha is to block form submissions from spam bots or automated scripts that harvest email address from publicly available web forms. Captcha in wordpress is usually used as plugin for comment form and contact form for preventing unwanted comments post raised by machine spammer called spam bot.
One of captcha which is used as plugin in wordpress comment form called simple captcha. By using this simple captcha, the wordpress comment form will be added one form again followed with 6 digits number as images. When a reader of the blog wishes to post a comment, he will need to perform a simple step to ensure he is a human and not spam bots by keying the number in the captcha form. If the 6 digits numbers which are keyed into captcha form do not match with the 6 digits number showed in images, the comment post will not be posted. The 6 digits number will be randomly changed if the readers refresh the page or push reload button. This 6 digits number images will easier for human to read but difficult for spam bot unless the bot is using pretty good digital image recognition software.
How to install this plugin in wordpress? Well, actually there is very simple way to install this plugin into wordpress. You just need to extract the zip source into “wp-content/plugins” and then activate this plugin via plugin tab. That’s all, you will get the captcha form followed by 6 digits captcha images and reload button in your wordpress comment form.
Now, my wordpress running with two plugin for combating spam bots, akismet and simple Captcha. Simple Captcha will do simple check by differentiate human or machine using simple 6 digits number images. When a new comment, trackback, or pingback comes to by blog, meaning the comment post successfully being posted, then this comment is submitted by akismet plugin to the Akismet web service which runs hundreds of tests on the comment and then decide wheater they look like spam or not and lets me review the spam in admin screen. By those two spam bots plugin, at least until now i haven’t found spam again

After several days try simple captcha, finally i change my captcha plugin from simple captcha to another captcha plugin called si-captcha-for-wordpress
The reason of changing my captcha is because the image of si-captcha-for-wordpress is more visible and easier than simple captcha.
